After my water broke, we patiently waited for Henry's arrival, but after 8 hours and no change, they suggested putting me on pitocin. Henry still wasn't in too big a hurry, because it was another 6 hours until I was ready to begin pushing. I was feeling contractions, so I asked for an epidural around 12:00. I had a similar experience as I did with Hayden, which was being completely numb from the waste down, which made my legs hard to feel... very frustrating!
I didn't have to push as long as I did with Hayden, only about an hour this time. Although, this time around I was very sick during the delivery portion. :(
It was definitely anti-climactic with this delivery. Because Henry was considered pre-term, being 5 weeks early, there were a lot more nurses there to tend to Henry. His breathing was a little strenuous, so after holding him for only a few minutes, they brought Henry to the NICU.
Later that night, they let me hold him for a few hours, but he had to stay in there overnight just to observe his breathing. Henry also wasn't eating as much as he should have been, so they placed him on a feeding tube to help him along.
Thankfully, our little guy showed a lot of improvement, and was off the tube & out of NICU the next day!!!
