Mad Hatter Day

What a fun day to celebrate...with a family tea party!  Hayden enjoyed picking out the hats for all of us to wear, while Jake and I put together a little tea party meat that even included the Cheshire Cat. :)

Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog

(Hot dog Sugar Cookies)
I think we were officially Hot Dog'ged out after National Hot Dog day!!  We celebrated by having tons of different types of dogs!  We invited the cousins over to help us eat all of them!!  For appetizers we had bbq mini-dogs, pigs in a blanket, bacon wrapped dogs, and Hayden's personal favorite octopus dogs! :)  For dinner, we grilled some more doggies, and for dessert enjoyed yummy Hot Dog cookies!!  After it became dark, the cousins had fun playing with our "hot dog", Tanner with Flashlights!

Lollipop, lollipop, oh la la la la lollipop!

Of course we had to celebrate Lollipop Day! :)  We had a yummy Lollipop pancake breakfast, made Lollipops using lifesavers (they turned out pretty cool), colored some lollipop pictures, and listened to the Lollipop song.  Hayden enjoyed trying to make the lollipop sound, but only Jake was successful with that :).  We also tried to figure out how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Pop... although we lost count after 30.

National Ice Cream Day

What a fun day to celebrate!!!  We had ice cream galore!!  We started the morning with a yummy build your own breakfast sundae... aka...yogurt/fruit parfait. :) Later in the day, we went to White Water Ice Cream for lunch :) (which is new in Yorkville)... VERY YUMMY!!  Hayden had cotton candy ice cream... it actually tasted just like cotton candy!  We did a few crafts with ice cream stickers & stamps.  Then after dinner, we made our own ice cream in a bag!  Poor Daddy had to do most of the shaking, but tasted pretty good!

2nd Annual Tedding Bear Picnic

Today, we had our 2nd annual Teddy Bear Picnic!  This year though it fell on a weekend, so Jake was able to join us!  We enjoyed a nice picnic in the park, despite how humid/hot it was today!  We also enjoyed going on a bear hunt and finding gummie bears, along with reading books about bears in our bear cave... aka... fort! :)

National Chocolate Day

What a yummy day to celebrate!! :)  We did a few chocolate activites in honor of the day ... finger painting with chocolate pudding, although there was more eating than painting. :)  We also found a yummy recipe for chocolate play-doh, again... a lot of taste testing.   Then we read a few books about chocolate and ended teh day with some chocolate fondue!!   Both Hayden and Jake asked if National Chocolate Day could be celebrated at least once a month.

Abracadabra

In honor of Magic Day today, Hayden put on a Magic show for us! He was so cute practicing the tricks I taught him! He definitely made me proud with how into the set up of the magic show he was getting; he wanted a red curtain to make it fancy... we had to settle for a red plastic table cloth.  He also wanted to make signs for his magic show... he requested an exit sign "in case there is an emergency, like a fire, and we need to get out quickly". :)  No, I wasn't teaching him any pyro-tricks.
