Sunday Funday!

Poor Jake had to spend the weekend, taking care of poor Hayden and me who have been under the weather.   We had a fun day though staying inside, trying to keep Hayden from over doing it.

Wonder Pets does help!

Super Cute... when Hayden and I were working in the kitchen, he was moving the stool over to the sink.  He couldn't move it all by himself, so he said, "Mommy, I need help, I need some Teamwork!".  Letting him watch Wonder Pets on tv does help! :)

Snow Slurpee

Unfortunately the snow is back :(.  Hayden doesn't seem to mind though!

Is that snow in my cup?

Yummy, who wouldn't want Fruit punch and snow in a cup?

More Potty Training...

This weekend, we made more progress with the never-ending potty training.  Hayden is now beginning to learn/practice how to go standing up.  At first, I thought this was a great idea to help avoid the disgusting germs in public bathrooms, but I didn't realize how messy it can be until he learns to practice his "aim". :)

A few more quirky potty training observations...

--Hayden doesn't like to have an "audience" when he is going to the bathroom, so he will now ask for his "privacy". Very cute!

--When washing his hands, he will now try to eat the bubbles of his hands instead of rinsing (hopefully this is just a phase!)

Potty Training....

We have been working hard on Potty training the past few months.  Hayden began showing interest at daycare when the others went on the potty, Hayden wanted to as well (peer pressure starts so early).  Since then, we have been following his cues, and trying to go at Hayden's pace.  At times it can be frustrating, but he manages to crack us up with some of his conversations we have had in the bathroom lately;

Mommy: Hayden, do you have to use the potty?
Hayden: No thank you, I am playing.

Mommy:  Hayden, can you try going poop?
Hayden: No thank you, my butt doesn't want to do anything.

Mommy: Hayden, make sure you tell us when you have to go potty.
Hayden:  Ok, Mommy.  (a few minutes later) Mommy, I just went potty (in his underwear).  I since have reworded myself to; "Tell me when you have to go potty IN the toilet."

Mommy: Hayden, why did you go pee-pee in your underwear?

Hayden: Because I didn't go on the potty.
Some other corky things occuring during potty training;  Hayden doesn't like to go to the bathroom without socks on because the tile is too cold in the morning.  He doesn't like to wash his hands with cold or hot water, it has to be "warm",  he asks us to listen to his pee, we have a song that we sing if he is dry... "Hayden went pee-pee on the potty, I'm so proud of Hayden!", he will often sing it to himself. :)

Aside from conversations, we have had some debates as to what to call pull-ups and underwear.  At times, we refer to his pull-ups as "Roary underwear", because there is a red racecar, that looks like Roary the racecar on the outside of them.  Although, Jake began calling his pull-ups "big boy underwear" (I wanted to call them big boy diapers, but Hayden liked Jake's name for them better).  The dilemma now is we are starting to have him transition into actual underwear, but not sure what to call them....  Real big-boy underwear???

Sunday Morning Bug Hunt

Since the winter weather is keeping us inside, we are trying to get creative with activities that are fun for Hayden.  So we took the bugs he received from Santa and his bug hunting kit from the summer, and made it an inside bug hunt.  He really enjoyed it, especially using the magnifying glass.

Headlights

I find myself laughing at some of the things that Hayden says, and seem to post about it often.  Here is another Quotable Quote from Hayden:
Today, when I was dropping Hayden off at Ms. Donna's, another mom was dropping off her daughter named Cory.  As we were walking up the driveway, he noticed I left the headlights of my car on.  So Hayden asked what those lights are called, and so I told him they are called headlights.
Then as we were walking past Cory's car, Hayden said, "Mommy, I like Cory's Mommy's headlights."
We were able to get a good laugh from that this morning!

A Nose is for...

Tonight before bed, Hayden and I were working with picture/sight word flashcards.  When we came to the picture of a nose, I asked Hayden where his nose was... which of course he eagerly pointed to my nose and then his.  When I asked him what his nose is for... he said, "to put boogers in".  Really?  Too funny!!

It's Limbo Time!

Today we had a nice, relaxing Sunday!  We stayed home and played with some of the new toys we received on Christmas.  Although Hayden had fun playing Limbo, I think Jake liked it more! :)

Good Idea, Hayden!

Not sure that is going to work :)

Dream A Little Dream

Hayden was so cute this morning when I woke him up!  He was so happy (which is rare, because he is just like his Mommy, and hates to be woken up in the morning).  Hayden kept insisting that he watched a show during his nap.  After a few minutes of asking him to repeat himself, I figured out what he ment... this was our conversation:

Hayden: Mommy, I watched a show during my nap.
Mommy: What?
Hayden: I watched a show during my nap!
Mommy: You did?  What kind of show?
Hayden: The show had me, and you, and Daddy, and Fumble and your car.  The show had two of your cars.
Mommy: Really?  (long pause, while I tried to figure out what show that was ;)  Oh, you mean you had a dream last night when you were sleeping?
Hayden: No, I watched a show.
Mommy: That is called a dream.  When you are sleeping, and you see things in your head that looks like a show or movie is a dream.
Hayden: I watched a Dream show.  We were running after your car, Mommy.  There were two of your cars, two.  We were running at your car to get your coat, so we could play with trains.  It was fun, Mommy.  I want to watch another show during my nap!

The dialouge that I typed doesn't do justice for our conversation this morning!  But I can assure you, it was absolutely adorable!  He kept wanting to talk about his "show" and was in his play room telling his hot wheels all about it!

Fun in the Snow

Although Hayden and I were hoping for a snow day so we could stay home, it didn't happen.  However, we were able to have fun in the snow later in the day.  Even though it was a little cold, Hayden still enjoyed using his new snow shovel helping with the driveway, as well pretending to "plow" it with his dumptruck.

Backseat Driver

Hayden is starting to become quite the navigator while we are driving.  This morning, everytime we approached a red light, he would say, "Mommy, you need to stop, the light is red." or when he saw a green light, he would say, "Go, Mommy drive... the light is green."  He also points out trucks or trains and tells me to "Turn here, Mommy.  Let's go see the truck."

Right now, I find it cute... Let's see how long that lasts. :)

Winter Break is Over

Today, was a sad day... back to daycare & work.  On the plus side though, Hayden woke up in a great mood and walked right into Ms. Donna's house with no tears... woo-hoo!  That is progress from last year... many tears were shed the first day back from break last winter.

Hayden was excited when I picked him up after his nap because they are beginning a dinosaur unit, which is  something he is very much interested in right now!  Can't wait to see what crafts and activities he will bring home this month! :)

Chipmunks and Camping

Today we enjoyed another day of fun activities while taking advantage of still being on Winter Break!  This morning we went and saw Chipmunks-- The Squeakquel.  It was a very cute movie, and Hayden REALLY enjoyed all the singing and dancing in it.

Kerosotes Theater Enjoying Chipmunks

After his nap, we decided to light the fireplace and have dinner over the "campfire" :).  We roasted mini-hot dogs & marshmallows with the lights off and Hayden's little lantern on.  Mental note for next "camping trip"...  do not give Hayden marshmallow before bedtime.  He had so much energy, that he was literally jumping on the couches :).

Pop Goes the Balloon

Today was a great start to the new year!  We had a family day of bowling and lunch at Red Robin. Hayden's interest in bowling has improved some since our bowling trip last winter.  He made it to Frame 8 this time, before becoming bored (last year it was Frame 4, I believe).  This year, he wanted to hold the ball himself and "throw" it down the lane (more like dropping it very hard while it slowly made its way to the pins), opposed to setting it down and pushing the ball like he use to do :).  I think he would have continued bowling, but seemed a little sleepy and hungry.

After finishing a yummy lunch, Hayden, of course, wanted a yellow balloon on our way out of the restaurant.  He was very content in the backseat playing with his balloon.... until it popped that is. :(  Jake and I prepared ourselves for the breakdown we knew would happen... 8-9 seconds of silence tipped us off that it would be a doozy.  Sure enough, Hayden was very sad to lose his balloon; tears, runny nose, and drool hanging out of his mouth (his first popped balloon).  He cried for about 10 minutes until we arrived home, then all was good again when he found his tow truck and Fumble when we walked into the house.

Thank Goodness for Bumpers :)

Happy New Years!!

Hayden has been cooped up a little the past few days and was in major need of energy burning, so we took him to Airtastic.  His favorite bouncer was the train... he loved climbing through it and saying choo-choo!! :)

Later, to help ring in the New Year, Hayden's cousins came over to enjoy Fondue, play with some of his new Christmas toys, and enjoy Toy Story 2.  They seemed to enjoy themselves, but didn't make it to midnight.  Hayden was asleep at 10:00, Roary was down at 11:00, but Little Randy made it!!

Can't wait to see what 2010 has in store for our Family!!  Happy New Year!
