We have been working hard on Potty training the past few months. Hayden began showing interest at daycare when the others went on the potty, Hayden wanted to as well (peer pressure starts so early). Since then, we have been following his cues, and trying to go at Hayden's pace. At times it can be frustrating, but he manages to crack us up with some of his conversations we have had in the bathroom lately;
Mommy: Hayden, do you have to use the potty?
Hayden: No thank you, I am playing.
Mommy: Hayden, can you try going poop?
Hayden: No thank you, my butt doesn't want to do anything.
Mommy: Hayden, make sure you tell us when you have to go potty.
Hayden: Ok, Mommy. (a few minutes later) Mommy, I just went potty (in his underwear). I since have reworded myself to; "Tell me when you have to go potty IN the toilet."
Mommy: Hayden, why did you go pee-pee in your underwear?
Hayden: Because I didn't go on the potty.
Some other corky things occuring during potty training; Hayden doesn't like to go to the bathroom without socks on because the tile is too cold in the morning. He doesn't like to wash his hands with cold or hot water, it has to be "warm", he asks us to listen to his pee, we have a song that we sing if he is dry... "Hayden went pee-pee on the potty, I'm so proud of Hayden!", he will often sing it to himself. :)
Aside from conversations, we have had some debates as to what to call pull-ups and underwear. At times, we refer to his pull-ups as "Roary underwear", because there is a red racecar, that looks like Roary the racecar on the outside of them. Although, Jake began calling his pull-ups "big boy underwear" (I wanted to call them big boy diapers, but Hayden liked Jake's name for them better). The dilemma now is we are starting to have him transition into actual underwear, but not sure what to call them.... Real big-boy underwear???
