Happy First Day of Summer

Today we celebrated the first day of summer!  We started with a yummy banana split for breakfast!  Well, not really... actually tasted better than a "typical" one.  We created it using bananas, yogurt, fruit toppings, nutella, and a little bit of granola!  Very tasty!! :)  We also made peach popsicles, snacked on yummy watermelon, and spent the afternoon at the pool!  Very excited for more summer days like today! :)

First Day of Summer Vacation

To start our first day of summer break, I gave Hayden a goodie bin full of things we can do this summer!   Hayden also received his first buzz cut for the summer.  After treating him to some frozen yogurt at TCBY, we also spent a lot of time at the park!  You know it is summer break, when we are still at the park during the week when the sun starts going down. :)

Lights & Sirens Parade

Hayden was so excited to hear that the Lights and Sirens parade is back!  He loves watching all of the old fashion cars, as well as the ice cream and fireworks! :) Definitely, a fun summer tradition!

First Day of Summer!!

So excited to celebrate the first day of Summer!! We decided to spend the afternoon outside; carving a watermelon, having a water balloon fight, trying out the new sprinkler, and enjoying a Summer Muffin Tin Lunch on the patio (thank you again Jake for putting the patio in for us).
(Lemon'ade, ice cream cone carrot/dressing, umbrella applesauce, watermelon,
bugle and cheese sandwich, & flip flop crackers)

97 Degrees outside = Pool Time

This summer, we hope to get a lot of use out of the clubhouse swimming pool down the street!  Hayden LOVES playing in the water!!
Great way to spend a HOT day!!

Ah... Sweet Sunday!

That was my Dad's favorite saying, when he had a Sunday filled with activities that he liked!  Today, we had a great day.  The morning started with yummy frittata muffins... and some entertainment by Jake. :)
Next we headed to the Farmer's Market... who knew it would be so educational... Hayden LOVED it!! He really enjoyed picking out the different fruits/veggies. He was so excited when he was asked to smell some of them to check for freshness. :) His two favorite parts were finding Golden raspberries and watching the mini-donut machine.

We ended the day with our FIRST family bike ride!!  It didn't go too bad considering it was our first try!

Fun-filled Saturday... we started the morning walking a (little running) 5k, then Jake took Hayden to the Car Show, which was the high-lite of Hayden's day!!  We ended the night enjoying our homemade Frozen bananas!!

Last Day of Summer-- Water Balloon Toss

Today was the last day of Summer... and it was hard to believe considering the temperatures were up in the high 80's. After preschool, I surprised Hayden with a bowl of water balloons. He was so excited, and wasn't too sure what to do with them... until he learned that you can toss them and pop them on me! :) He was so stinkin' cute trying to sit and step on the larger ones that wouldn't pop!!
Days like today, make me EXTREMELY appreciative that I get to stay home with Hayden and do things like this with him!! :)

Treasure Bucket

One thing that Hayden has loved doing this summer is "Nature Walks". They typically consist of walking to the pond, and throwing rocks, but as long as we are outside talking about nature, that works for me!!
We take our Treasure Bucket with us, and fill it up with goodies that we find along the way. Usually, Hayden adds flowers, sticks, feathers, rocks, and the occasional bug. Today was ALL about bugs!! We saw Grasshoppers, Ladybugs, and Caterpillars!
