Our Caterpillars are gone...

This year we picked Caterpillars/Butterflies to observe from Insect Lore.  Last week our caterpillars arrived, but unfortunately with all of the excitement, I forgot to take pictures of them.  After a few days of watching them, they turned into Chrysalis.  Hayden has had so much fun watching them eat, and eat, and eat.  Now the countdown begins until the butterflies arrive. :)

Headbandz

My new FAVORITE game...We laughed so much playing this game called Headbandz.  Hayden was really good at it too... Jake and I could barely guess any of the cards!  I also think the picture of Jake below, is my new favorite picture, too! ;)

Happy Memorial Day

Today we started the morning with some festive "flag" waffles. :)  After our patriotic breakfast, thankfully we were able to get in some bike riding before the stormy weather started. :(  Although it rained, that didn't stop our "cook-out"... Jake was a trooper and still grilled for us.  We had fun making a yummy flag cake and having a corn-on-the-cob eating contest... Jake won by a landslide!

Road trip to Columbia, South Carolina

Today, we took a road to Columbia which is about an hour and a half from Waxhaw.  Along the way, we went through a few SMALL towns, which was fascinating to see how some live compared to what we are use to.  One thing I loved seeing as we drove through SC
were all of the Palmetto trees(small palm trees).  

Once we arrived, our first stop was to the Columbia Marionette Theater to see the Wizard of Oz... very neat!!

After that we went to Edventure, which is a REALLY cool hands-on museum.  We had so much fun doing art projects, climbing inside Ed... a huge boy that you can learn about the human body, learning about snot... yes I said snot, very interesting science project, plus Hayden's personal favorite, the construction site where he was able to drive/pedal a bulldozer.  Then we ended our trip with a yummy stop at a restaurant called Blue Marlin, where we enjoyed our first taste of

Time for a new bike helmet!

Hayden wants to learn to ride a bike with no training wheels this summer!  First item on the list is to get him a new bike helmet... of course he wanted this one, but we went with a safer choice! :)

First Day of Summer Vacation

To start our first day of summer break, I gave Hayden a goodie bin full of things we can do this summer!   Hayden also received his first buzz cut for the summer.  After treating him to some frozen yogurt at TCBY, we also spent a lot of time at the park!  You know it is summer break, when we are still at the park during the week when the sun starts going down. :)

Jake's 4th Annual Warrior Dash

Today, we had a nice day up north in Huntersville, NC cheering Jake on during his fourth Warrior Dash!  He did such a great job!  Hayden's favorite part was watching Jake jump over the fire, while my favorite part was seeing him finish safely! :)

Preschool Graduation

Definitely a bittersweet day today as we celebrated Hayden's preschool graduation!  Jake and I are so unbelievably proud of how well Hayden has adjusted in preschool after the move.  He loved going to school everyday, is so unbelievably curious about learning, and made some nice friends!!  Hayden's class sang a cute song and then they each received a preschool diploma!  Although, I was full of tears, I can't wait to spend a fun summer with Hayden before he starts  full-day kindergarten in the fall!

Puddle Jumping

After two weeks of no rain, it was nice to finally get a shower!  Afterwards, we went for a nice walk and Hayden's favorite... puddle jumping!

Happy Mother's Day

This weekend, I had a very nice Mother's Day!!  Hayden and I celebrated at a Mommy & Son Ice cream social... I was excited that there was finally something for Hayden and me to do together!  We also spent some time at Waxhaw's Spring Fest enjoying their craft booths, big jumpers, 

and petting zoo!  I also received some cute gifts from Hayden... my favorite were my friendship bracelet and my card that he made at Preschool... I found it pretty funny!! :)
