Haydenism's

A few things that have kept us laughing the past few days...

One of my friend's from work just had a baby. While I was showing Hayden pics., he said he wanted a baby....
Mom: Do you want a baby brother or baby sister?
Hayden: A Baby brother.
Mom: What would you want to name your baby brother?
Hayden: Banana

So... if we decide to have another child and it is a boy, looks like his name will be Banana Rutherford.

I have been teaching Hayden some new songs lately, such as a Found a Peanut (one of my favorites from my childhood).   This morning, when we woke up:
Hayden asked:  How are you feeling Mommy?
Mom: Not very good, I have a tummy ache.
Hayden:  Did you eat a Rotten Peanut, Mommy?
(you have to know the song, to understand why that is so funny!! :)

Last but not least:
Hayden: Look, I'm touching my Butt.  I'm a Butt Toucher!  (Don't ask, but still pretty hilarious!)

Family Fun Day

Today, Jake took the day off of work. We decided to look over our Summer Sand pail To-Do list and chose to go to the Children's Museum. At first Hayden seemed a little overwhelmed by how much there was to do there. After a while, he started to feel comfortable, and began experimenting. He really liked the car city(of course), the water/bubbles, and the Marble Run.

After we enjoyed some yummy lunch, we surprised Hayden with a trip to Toys R Us, and bought him his own Marble Run. I'm not sure though, who enjoyed putting it together... Hayden or Daddy?

Summer Park Passport

One of our goals this summer is to visit all of the parks in Yorkville. We found out that there are 33 in all... who knew!  After we play at each park, Hayden marks it off on our park map, and then we journal about what we enjoyed.  Hayden tells me what he liked about each park, while I write it down for him ;).  Along with that, we make sure to take a picture next to each playground sign to include in our passport!

BBQ, Swimming, and Badminton

Today, we went to Hayden's Cousins for a BBQ.  Hayden had so much fun swimming in the pool and jumping off the ladder.  After dinner, Hayden would have been perfectly content if we let him spend the rest of the night playing in the sandbox with Randy and Roary... while Mommy and Daddy would have been perfectly content playing Badminton. :)

Shape Scavenger Hunt

During lunch or breakfast, we will occasionaly practice flashcards.  Lately, he always wants to go through the Insect flashcards we bought a few weeks ago, but today he wanted to do his shape flashcards.  Once we were done eating, Hayden started to point out shapes he recognized around the house.  So, we went on a shape scavenger hunt! :)

Just a few shapes that Hayden found! :)

Potato Heads, Puzzles, and Parking Lots, oh my!

Today was one of those days, that makes me SO happy that I get to stay home with Hayden!  It was an ordinary day, didn't go anywhere or have any plans.  We stayed home and just had fun playing with toys in the playroom, reading books, and playing outside in the sprinkler!   Hayden and I also spent some time working on his number recognition... of course by using Hot Wheels! :)

National Ice Cream Day

Today, we celebrated National Ice Cream Day!!  We played with our Ice Cream Cone Sensory Bin, practiced our counting with Ice Cream scoops, and made home-made Ice Cream.

Surprisingly, the Ice Cream in a bag turned out very tasty!! I liked it better than Ice Cream from a Carton... but it is way easier to eat Ice Cream from the carton! Hayden said he was tired after making the Ice Cream... we had to shake the bag for about 5 minutes! Luckily, he still had some energy to eat it :)

Family Movie Night; Monsters, Inc.

(Monster Fruit Salad, Mike Wazowski Twice Baked Potatoes, Monster Burger, Monster Cookies, and Monster Juice) :)
A few of the upcoming weekends are going to be busy, so I thought we would have another movie night this past weekend. I found some adorable Monster Crafts at Micheals, in their Dollar section that went perfectly with Monsters, Inc.

(We made Monsters, Grew Monsters, & Played Musical Doors and Hot Monster)

Hayden loved this movie, and thanks to Jake he does a great impression Roz... which cracks me up everytime he does it!!!
