Feels Like "Spring"

Ok, maybe not Spring, but the high 30's and sun in January, feels so much better than the weather we have had the past few days!  So, after picking up Hayden from preschool, we stopped for an ice cream cone and then went to check out the new pedestrian bridge in downtown Yorkville that goes over the river.

Snow Fun with Cousins

The boys were up nice and early today, so we started the day with some yummy cinnamon roll waffles!
The boys were super excited to spend some time outside in the snow!
We also made some snow ice cream!

First Big Snow day of Winter

This is the first big snowfall of the season.  Hayden of course was super excited to have a snow-themed day!  So we enjoyed snowman pancakes, played outside, enjoyed snow-slushies, and watched Snow Buddies in new comfy pj's.

Winter or Spring?

Such crazy, unbelievable weather for January!  One day we are playing at the park on a sunny 59 degree afternoon & the next day we are wearing our snowsuit & shoveling!

Winter, Schminter... Time for the Zoo

You know it has been a long winter, when the temps hit the mid 40's and we head to the zoo! :)  It was beautiful weather though to finally get outside, and get some sun & fresh air.  Going to the zoo during winter actually makes for a wonderful time.  There was hardly anyone there, and a lot of the animals were very active... complete opposite of the summer!

Muffin Tin Monday- Snow

There isn't a theme for Muffin Tin Monday today.  Although I am SICK of snow, Hayden doesn't appear to be.  He requested a snowplow to go along with the one he saw this morning, as well as the Snow Mighty Machines DVD we rented this weekend from Redbox. :)

Groundhog Day Blizzard 2011

After, a LONG night of wind, and even Thunder, Hayden couldn't wait to go outside and check everything out!  Who knew there would be so much snow!  The drifts were the worst!  We spent about 2 hours shoveling the driveway.  Then after the snowplows came through, Jake was back out for another hour of shoveling by the end of the driveway.

After playing in the snow for a little while, Hayden opted to head back inside and play with his trucks and "snow".

Catching Snowflakes

This morning was PERFECT snowflake catching weather!  The snowflakes were thick and the wind wasn't blowing too hard!  So we decided to try to catch some snowflakes. First, Hayden wanted to use his tongue. :)  Then, we used blue felt to catch ice crystals!  Hayden was very excited to see what they look like up close!!!

Of course, he wanted to wear his frog rain boots instead of snow boots... he said they would help him catch snowflakes better. ;)

Winter Camping Trip

Feeling a little Cabin-feverish lately, so I thought I would shake things up a bit, with a fun family camping trip... in the family room.  We had a fun night of cooking hot dogs, nachos, s'mores over the campfire... aka... fireplace.  We also played frisbee, inside baseball, and fishing.  We ended our camping trip with flashlight fun, reading books in the tent, and "star-gazing".
