Hayden'isms

I love some of our conversations with Hayden! I need to get better at writing some of them down, before I forget.  I had some funny comments to add from this week, but of course, I can't remember all of them, only a few...

- "Uh, oh Mommy, my sock broke!"  (hole in sock)

-"Mommy, why is the moon following us?"  (he has said this a few times in the last year, and it never gets old.)  On our way home last night, when we came to a stop, he would say, "The moon stopped following us." Then as we started driving again, "Mommy, why is the moon following us again?"

-On our way home today, he was looking out the window.  I asked him if he was tired, his response, "No, Mommy, I am just watching the clouds play." (Super cute on a party cloudy evening.  He said he saw the clouds turn into dumptrucks and tractors.)

-"Steppin' on Leprechauns, boom, boom! Steppin' on Leprechauns, boom, boom!" (He heard the song Boom, Boom, Pow! and of course with St. Patrick's Day this past week, the minute he heard the word leprechaun in a song, he constantly wants to sing it.  Funny, because I never noticed that part of the song, but it's in there.)

-My personal favorite today... "Mommy... Daddy is old.  I'm not old, you aren't old, Mommy... But Daddy is old!"  :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

The morning started off a little hectic... Hayden's Daycare canceled this morning, and I didn't check my message until a little before we were headed out the door.  So Jake took a half a day in the am, and I took a half a day in the pm.
But Jake surprised me as I was leaving work, and we headed to Cosley Zoo to take adavantage of the BEAUTIFUL weather today!

Throughout the crazy morning and evening we also enjoyed some St. Patrick's Day fun!!

Yummy, can't wait to eat green eggs!
Looks, like the Leprechaun was here!
The Leprechaun left coins everywhere for a Gold Coin Hunt!
Still finding more coins!
Wow, that's a lot of gold!
At the end of the Gold Coin trail, we found a treasure with a note!
Cool, what did he leave?
Once again, I think Daddy likes some of his toys more than Hayden!
Although Hayden is still a little young, I didn't want him just to focus on the "treasure/toys"!

Traditional Shamrock Cookies

Aside from Shamrock Shakes, my other favorite thing about St. Patrick's Day are the Shamrock cookies!  I can remember making/eating them since I was in first grade!!   Hayden really enjoyed playing with the dough, and creating the stems!  Oh, and of course the sprinkles!!

Hoping to give our Leprechaun Trap one last try before St. Patrick's Day.  We decided to break out the "big guns" of bait... Lucky Charms... Keep your fingers crossed!

Clearly, by the look on his face, he just ate a sugary "marshmallow" :)

Shamrocks and Forts

The Leprechaun left Hayden a 3-leaf clover plant in the trap, as well as a watering can!  That was so nice of him :).
His first words... "Oh, a plant." Then when he noticed there was dirt, he decided that he really liked it!
The poor shamrocks were flooded with a whole can of water :)

Hayden loves using the couch cushions to make forts.  He likes to either read books or play with his hot wheels in them!  Today though, he wanted to sleep... with his eyes open in his fort. :)  Very cute!!

Hayden the Leprechaun

Thankfully, Hayden had gymnastics this morning to get some of his wiggles out, after having to be cooped up inside, due to all the rain.  After naptime, we spent some time making a St. Patrick's Day Craft, which turned out very cute!

Towards the end of our craft... he became more curious with Jake while replacing the ice maker line. When he saw Jake moving the refrigerator, he immediately said, "Sorry Mommy, but I have to go help Daddy.  I'll finish this later." Who can blame him! :)

Standing Up!!! :)

Woo-hoo!!!  Hayden is now standing up to go pee!  I know, not a big deal to some, but it is HUGE with us!!  It will make bathroom time soooo much easier when he has to use public washrooms.
Gone are the days of having to line the toilet seat with paper repeatedly, (since it typically falls off the first few attempts to climbing on, and then having to bribe him to not touch anything!!)  Although it does have its drawbacks... he still needs more practice with his aim. :)

You are probably thinking the same thing he thought as I took the picture... "Why are you taking a picture of me peeing?" I am so proud :)

Rain, Rain Go Away!!

What better way to spend a rainy afternoon than with Window Markers!!!

Rainbow Cupcakes... sounds fun!?!

To further our St. Patrick's Day spirit, I decided to make rainbow cupcakes with Hayden!  We found an "easy" recipe in the Family Fun magazine, and thought we would bake them before dinner!  An hour and a half later, we (I) finally finished the cupcakes!!  Thankfully they tasted yummy!!

The Leprechaun Paid Us a Visit

While Hayden was napping, the Leprachaun paid us a visit!  The little elf left us a note and his hat.  He left in a hurry, because our rugs were a mess, and the pot of gold stuck in the door!  Hayden was excited to see what was in the trap, but seemed a little disappointed!  He wanted a Hot Wheel... he refused to wear the hat!

We Caught Something!

Leprechaun Dust was Found by the Front Door... (green glitter)

He left his hat and a note...

Messy Little Elf, and our bait(pot of gold) was stuck in the door

We're Going to Catch a Leprechaun

Today was a rainy day, but what better way to spend it than making a Leprechaun Trap!  We have been reading a few books about St. Patrick's Day and Leprechauns!  He is so excited to catch one, or better yet, he thinks the Leprechaun is going to bring him Hot Wheels. :)
