Muffin Tin Meals

Since I am LUCKY enough to stay home with Hayden the next year, one of my goals is to make sure that he starts "learning" good eating habits.  One way that I have been reading about, is to use muffin tins to not just help with portion control, but to also make it fun!  I have been trying to use these once a week and use a creative theme!  It seems to be working, he will eat every last crumb in the tins!  (Knock on wood).
Breakfast Dippers- French Toast/Syrup & Fruit/Yogurt

The theme this week that I used was "Dippers" everything had to be dipped!  Hayden loved it!

Lunch Dippers- Carrots/Ranch, Salami/Cream Cheese, Apples/Peanut butter

So, how is your day?

It has been a little over a month since the school year has ended and Hayden & I have been home full-time... I am LOVING it!!  Aside from all the fun activities and crafts we do, I have been able to see him grow and change in so many ways!!

Hayden is definitely turning into a little boy, and not so much a toddler. The past few days, I began going through his playroom and bedroom, and started to pack up the "baby toys" as he calls them, and board books.  I also realized that the last of the "infant/toddler" items is pretty much the booster seat which he doesn't use anymore, so down in the basement it goes!  He is growing up so fast!! :(

His personality is also starting to change, and he definitely isn't as shy as he use to be.  Today, we were in Old Navy and he spent the entire time dancing out in the middle of the aisles and would just giggle as people walked by!  Along with his cute sense of humor, he has developed a stubborn streak...  thankfully (knock on wood), his temper tantrums aren't as frequent, but he has now turned to pouting/sulking.  When he doesn't get his way, he will cross his arms and say, "I'm mad", then he will make a sighing noise.  His stubborness then kicks in, and he will just sit there, and try to wait us out.

He has also developed a mischevious side.  The good part though, is that I can read his face, and I will typically know that he did something he shouldn't by his facial expressions!  He tends to inadvertantly give away what he did, by saying, "I wasn't playing with that." For example, today when I was talking on the phone, he decided to throw the rest of his dinner in the garbage can while I wasn't looking... When I asked him what he just did, he replied, "I didn't touch the garbage can." Which basically told he just put something in there!

The best change I have seen in him is his conversations!!  During dinner, he will often ask, "So, how was your day? What was your favorite part?"  It cracks me up everytime!  It feels like I am talking to a little man!

Family Movie Night -- Shark Tale

(Hotdog/Spaghetti Squids & Octopus, Tuna Shaped Sandwiches, Turtle Egg peas, Gold fish crackers, Swedish Fish, and Ocean Jello)

We had another Family Movie night this weekend! My vote was for Finding Nemo, but Hayden was set on watching Shark Tale(not the best movie, in my opinion, but Hayden liked it.)

We created some underwater sea art and "fished" for numbers before the movie.

National Teddy Bear Picnic Day

Today was Teddy Bear Picnic Day, so we did a few different Bear Activities :)!  We went to Build-A-Bear and Hayden chose a Cat that he named Peaches.  It was a cute experience, and Hayden really liked it!!

We then took Peaches and another bear named Bryce (my bear that Jake bought be many years ago), and went on a picnic!

We ended our Teddy Bear day with a Bear Hunt and Building a Bear Den!

Hot Wheel Painting and Truck Coloring

Hayden's Attention Span has been increasing in a way that is so surprising!  Just a few months ago, he wouldn't want to focus on coloring or painting for longer than 5-10 minutes, now he will do some sort of craft for almost 30 minutes- completely engaged!  It has been so neat to see how much effort, concentration, and pride he puts into projects!!

Admiring his work! :)

Happy Birthday, Jake!!

Jake turned 33!!!  We had a nice time celebrating Jake's birthday, while Hayden spent the night at Grandma's house!!  Of course, for Jake's birthday his present was a new pair of running shoes!  We went to Road Runner in Naperville to have a Gate's test done to get custom fit running shoes for Jake!
