Family Movie Night/Chinese New Year

In honor of Chinese New Year, we did some fun Chinese New Year's traditions; dragon parade, a red envelope, and wrote our names using the chinese alphabet, as well as had a movie night and watched Kung Fu Panda. 

Happy Valentine's Day!!

We had such a FUN day today!  We started the morning with a yummy Valentine's breakfast & made holiday cards.  We then did some fun V-day heart activities!  After our Muffin Tin lunch, we surprised Hayden with a trip to the movie theater to see Gnomeo & Juliet, which was a cute movie!  (Thank you again, Daddy for taking the day off of work to celebrate Valentine's day)  After Hayden's nap, we had our traditional Valentine Scavenger Hunt!  I love this part, because Hayden gets SO excited to find all the clues to his V-day goodies!  We ended the night with a tasty dinner... Pretzels & Cheese, then yummy Cupcake Fondue!  Couldn't have asked for a better day!!

Winter, Schminter... Time for the Zoo

You know it has been a long winter, when the temps hit the mid 40's and we head to the zoo! :)  It was beautiful weather though to finally get outside, and get some sun & fresh air.  Going to the zoo during winter actually makes for a wonderful time.  There was hardly anyone there, and a lot of the animals were very active... complete opposite of the summer!

Valentine Candy Buttons

I use to LOVE Candy Buttons when I was little.  I was so excited when I found the recipe to make them with Hayden.  Although... not sure why I liked them so much... actually probably because they are almost all sugar!

Will you be my Valentine?

Hayden worked pretty hard addressing all of his construction Valentine's for his preschool friends.  He wanted to write ALL of their names by himself, and did a fantastic job with it! The next day after his ice cream preschool party, Hayden was so excited to show me all the Valentine's he received!!

Impressive

 There have been a few times today, that Hayden has surprised me, and made me realize that he is growing up. :(  This morning, Hayden was so excited to show me that he picked out his own clothes and got dressed all by himself... his clothes matched, too! :)  His manners are becoming more apparent as well.  He has been saying please and thank you more (unprompted), he also makes a point to always hold the door open for Mommy. :)   Hayden's drawing skills are also improving... as you can see by his adorable train picture!!

Peanut Butter Kind of Day

Today we had a peanut butter kind of day... First we made some bird feeders using peanut butter, pinecones, and birdseed.  We found a cute website about backyard birds, and Hayden REALLY liked listening to the songs that each bird sings. 

Daddy was nice enough to trudge through the snow to hang them for us! Hayden was so excited a few hours later, when the birds started using them.

Later in the day, we made some YUMMY peanut butter and jelly valentine cookies!!
